OVERVIEW: Rosemarie McElhaney is a practicing attorney and training certified mediator serving the Southern California area for over twenty years with offices in North and South Orange County. She also serves as a hearing officer for the California Housing Finance Agency. With an undergraduate degree in psychology and a Juris Doctorate in law, she also has over two thousand hours of training in mediation, collaboration, interest based negotiation, facilitation, neutral fair hearing and communication skills. Rosemarie has limited her private law practice to mediation and collaborative law where she facilitates settlements without court intervention.
BIOGRAPHY: Rosemarie’s experience includes work as an Administrative Law Judge, Judge Pro Tempore, Adjunct Law School Instructor, Negotiator, Mediator, Orange County Superior Court Mediation Panel, Riverside County Superior Court Mediation Panel, Mediation Trainer, United Nations NGO mediation delegate to international conferences, Speaker and Mediation Program Director. She co-founded Redwood Empire Community Mediation Center, Sonoma County Probation Department’s Juvenile Victim Offender Mediation Program and Collaborative Divorce Solutions of Orange County where she was also founding President Elect. She has served on the Board of Directors for Mariposa Community Center, Redwood Empire Mediation Center, Southern California Mediation Association and Collaborative Divorce Solutions of Orange County.
Rosemarie is zealous about mediation, the expanding collaborative movement and other consensual dispute resolution models. She consistently volunteers her time contributing to local, state, national and international organizations which promote dispute resolution solutions and participates in conferences, committees, advanced trainings and annual presentations. She has participated in the United Nations Climate Change Conferences in Mexico and Europe as a Mediation Beyond Borders International mediation delegate and is currently being solicited to participate in an international peace research project in Switzerland.
